PERMANENT LIP BLUSH + LIP COLOUR TATTOO IN GRIMSBY

Our permanent lip blush and lip neutralization services use the Fitzpatrick Scale to design a shade that works with your natural undertones — not against them.

This is for clients who want lips that look soft, even, and quietly “done” with just balm. The kind of lips that make you look put-together on:

  • Busy mornings
  • School runs
  • Work days
  • Weekend plans

…even when you didn’t spend much time getting ready.

Whether you’d like to:

  • Add gentle definition and a soft tint
  • Correct cool, dark, or uneven tones
  • Create a smoother base so lipstick sits better on special occasions

…we tailor each treatment to your features, lifestyle, and comfort level.

If you’ve had a bad PMU experience before, we slow everything down, explain each step, and focus on healed, natural-looking results you’re happy to see in the mirror every day.

Because we reserve time for follow-up and healing check-ins, we only open a limited number of new lip clients each month.

Book a 20-minute lip blush consultation with a certified SKN Deep artist.
We’ll look at your natural lip tone, walk you through realistic options and healing, and then you decide if you’d like to take one of this month’s spots.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS PERMANENT LIP BLUSH?

Lip blush is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that enhances your natural lip shape with a boost of symmetry, colour, and soft definition.

Once healed, it looks less like heavy lipstick and more like your favourite tinted balm that doesn’t wipe off — a light flush that makes your lips look alive even when you’re not wearing makeup.

Many clients choose lip blush because:

  • Their natural lip line has softened or become uneven over time.
  • Lipstick disappears as soon as they eat, drink, or talk a lot.
  • Certain shades make their lips look dull or grey instead of bright.

This treatment:

  • Defines the lip contour in a soft, blurred way (no harsh borders)
  • Adds a natural-looking flush that suits your undertone
  • Pairs beautifully with lip filler to enhance both volume and colour

Pigments are available in many shades and can be blended for a custom colour that:

  • Brightens your existing lip tone
  • Helps conceal minor scars
  • Restores balance and symmetry

Our goal at SKN Deep Cosmetic Clinic is simple:

Lips that fit your skin tone, your lifestyle, and your comfort level.

Our signature technique uses a small PMU needle cartridge to gently deposit pigment into the lips.

We do not offer or recommend harsh lip-lines or heavy overlining. Those rarely age well and often don’t look natural in real-life or close-up photos.

We encourage you to bring your favourite lip colours to your consultation so your artist can customize your pigment selection for a shade that suits you.

Please keep in mind:

  • It typically takes 2 sessions to complete your desired colour and ensure good longevity.
  • Just like nail polish, you need 2–3 thin coats for a solid, even tone — not one thick layer.

WHAT IS LIP NEUTRALIZATION?

Lip neutralization is a corrective technique created with our melanin-rich and cool-toned clients in mind.

Instead of placing pink or red pigment directly on top of dark or cool lips, we first use colour theory and corrective pigments to soften bluish, purple, or brown tones.

This technique is most common for clients with:

  • Fitzpatrick 4–6 skin tones
  • Bluish, purple, or grey undertones
  • Uneven or patchy colour
  • Post-inflammatory pigmentation from trauma, cold sores, or past treatments

The end result is lips that look:

  • More vibrant
  • More even
  • Still like your lips — just brighter and better balanced

Because deeper tones need gradual correction for the softest, most natural outcome, neutralization often takes 2–4 sessions.

This is normal and allows us to work carefully with your skin.

Our signature technique uses a small PMU needle cartridge to gently place corrective pigment into specific areas of the lips.

Once deeper tones have been softened, we layer a second pass of pigment to blend everything together for a smooth, even tint.

Again, we do not offer or recommend harsh lip-lines or heavy overlining for any lip service.

Our focus is on results that look balanced and flattering from every angle.

HOW MUCH DOES LIP BLUSH COST AT YOUR CLINIC?

Pricing for lip blush and dark lip neutralization depends on the artist you select and your desired result.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Standard Lip Blush: Starts at $550 (includes initial session, mapping, custom colour blend and 1 touch up scheduled 6 weeks after your initial).
  • Dark Lip Neutralization: Please note 2-4 sessions may be required in order to neutralize and correct dark undertones. This service starts at $550+ (includes initial session, mapping, custom correction blend and 1 touch up scheduled 6 weeks after your initial).
  • Touch-Ups: Touchups start at $150 and prices increase based on time between appointments. Your first touch up is included in your initial service for new clients only (does not include annual touch ups).

Why pricing varies:

  • Correcting work from another artist can require colour correction, cover up and reshaping.
  • Your desired result. If you are looking for a subtle pop of colour, 2 sessions is enough for most clients. If you are looking for a brighter more saturated colour, more sessions will be required.

We believe in full transparency when it comes to your beauty. We offer in-depth complimentary consultations so that you’re included in every step and know exactly what’s involved, what’s included, and the total investment before committing.

DO YOU OFFER FINANCING OR PAYMENT PLANS FOR LIP BLUSH?

Absolutely. Lip blush is a meaningful investment in your confidence, and we’ve partnered with iFinance Canada to help it fit your budget.

Here’s how we keep things flexible:

  • Payment plans – available for multi-session treatments (like dark lip neutralization and restorative tattoos) or packages.
  • Deposit structure – a small deposit reserves your spot and goes toward your total cost with no extra fees.
  • Fast access – once approved, you usually have access to your funds within 24 hours.

We’ll review these options during your consultation so you can make a decision that feels good both aesthetically and financially.

WILL I NEED TOUCH-UPS, AND ARE THEY INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?

Yes,  a lip blush touch-up is part of the process and helps ensure long-lasting results.

Here’s what you can expect at our Grimsby clinic:

Here’s what you can expect at our Grimsby clinic:

Initial touch-up:

  • Typically scheduled 6–8 weeks after your first lip blush session to fine-tune colour and shape.

Cost:

  • Permanent brow/lip packages include this first touch-up for new clients.
  • For other PMU services, touch-ups are offered at a reduced rate.
  • We review all options during your consultation.

Maintenance:

  • Most clients opt for a yearly lip blush touch-up to keep pigment looking fresh and to re-define the shape if needed.

This staged approach makes sure your results look refined at each stage and fade gracefully, not patchy.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR ME TO SEE THE FINAL RESULTS?

You’ll see colour right away, but your lips will go through a few healing stages before settling into their soft, final shade.

Healing timeline (real life):

Days 1–3:

  • Expect some swelling. Colour looks brighter and bolder than you planned — like you’re wearing a stronger lipstick. This is normal.

Days 4–7:

  • Lips soften and peel. You may notice tiny flakes when you apply balm. Underneath, a lighter, more natural pigment starts to show.

Weeks 4–6:

  • Final healed colour appears — usually about 30–40% softer than day one. This is when most clients say friends start asking what lip colour they’re wearing.

A touch-up after healing refines the colour and shape for long-lasting, balanced results.

This process lets your lips heal naturally and look beautiful for months and years, not just days.

HOW LONG DO LIP BLUSH RESULTS LAST?

Lip blush and neutralization results typically last 2–3 years before gradually softening back toward your natural lip tone.

The fade is intentional and even, so your lips don’t look patchy. You can then refresh or adjust the shade over time.

Why results fade:

  • Natural skin cell turnover and gentle exfoliation
  • Sun exposure or tanning
  • Habits like smoking or frequent lip treatments
  • Pigment colour choice (softer, natural shades fade sooner)

What this means for you:

  • You can expect your results to stay soft and even for up to 3 years.
  • We recommend a simple refresh every 12–18 months to keep your lips looking vibrant and balanced long-term, especially for lighter tones or corrective work.
  • Some clinics claim 5+ year results, but those often heal too dark or too solid. Our approach prioritizes a soft, natural fade that ages beautifully. It’s ideal if you want to define and add a subtle pop of colour that looks polished without needing a full face of makeup.

We’ll review your lifestyle and goals during your consultation so you know exactly how long your results should last and how to care for them.

IS A CONSULTATION REQUIRED BEFORE GETTING LIP BLUSH?

Yes, and it’s the best way to make sure your results are safe, customized, and realistic.

A quick consultation helps us:

  • Assess your lips – tone, undertone, and natural shape to see if any neutralization is needed.
  • Review your health history – cold sores, medications, or conditions that may affect healing.
  • Set expectations – colour options, healing stages, final results, and how many sessions to plan for.
  • Answer your questions – pricing, pain, aftercare, and anything else on your mind.

This step only takes a short time, is included in your service, and makes the rest of your experience smoother and more relaxing.

CAN LIP BLUSH NEUTRALIZE DARK OR COOL-TONED LIPS?

Yes. That’s exactly what lip neutralization is designed to do.

It’s a corrective process that uses colour theory and layered techniques to bring dark, bluish, or uneven tones into a more balanced, natural shade before blush colour is added.

Neutralization can help with:

  • Bluish, purple, or brown undertones
  • Uneven pigmentation or patchy colour
  • Post-inflammatory pigmentation from trauma or cold sores

Because darker tones require slow, gentle correction for the softest, most natural outcome, neutralization often takes 2–4 sessions.

The end result is even-toned lips that look healthy, soft, and natural.

IS LIP BLUSH PAINFUL?

Most clients compare the sensation to scratching or gentle pressure rather than sharp pain. We take every step we can to keep you comfortable.

We manage comfort by:

  • Applying a topical numbing cream and letting it sit for about 15 minutes before we start
  • Working in light layers and checking in with you often
  • Minimizing trauma to the skin so you leave feeling comfortable, not raw

Some swelling and tenderness after your appointment is normal and usually settles within a day or two.

Even clients who arrive feeling nervous about the tattooing process often say it felt far more comfortable than they expected.

HOW LONG WILL MY APPOINTMENT TAKE FROM START TO FINISH?

Plan for about 3 hours for your lip blush or neutralization appointment. This gives us time to work precisely and calmly without rushing your results.

Here’s how that time usually breaks down:

Consultation & mapping (20–30 minutes):

  • We discuss your goals, assess your lips, select pigment shades, and carefully outline your shape.

Topical numbing (20–30 minutes):

  • Applied before treatment to help keep you comfortable.

Pigment application (1–2 hours):

  • Performed in thin layers for even colour and soft, natural results.

Aftercare review (10 minutes):

  • We walk you through healing stages and send you home with clear, simple instructions.

Neutralization sessions can run slightly longer if we’re correcting darker tones or old pigment.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR LIP BLUSH OR NEUTRALIZATION?

Lip blush is suitable for many people, including those with darker tones, uneven pigmentation, or previous pigment.

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Want your lips to look naturally defined and tinted, even on no-makeup days.
  • Are tired of your lip colour disappearing the moment you eat, drink, or talk a lot.
  • Prefer a low-maintenance routine but still want to look polished at work, on school runs, and in photos.
  • Have uneven pigmentation or cool-toned lips that make some lipsticks look dull, grey, or patchy.
  • Are not pregnant or breastfeeding (for safety reasons) and free of major skin conditions.

Even if you have a history of cold sores or previous lip tattooing, we can often still work with you using the right plan.

A quick consultation confirms your candidacy and ensures your treatment is both safe and customized.

CAN I GET LIP BLUSH IF I ALREADY HAVE LIP FILLER?

Yes. Lip blush and lip filler complement each other beautifully when the timing is right.

We recommend waiting at least 4 weeks after your lip blush appointment before having filler.

Why timing matters:

  • Ensures accurate mapping and pigment placement for the best symmetry
  • Prevents working on lips that are still healing or swollen
  • Helps your results (volume from filler + colour from blush) look seamless and natural

Always share your filler history during the consultation so we can plan the safest and most flattering approach for you.

DO YOU OFFER CORRECTIVE WORK IF I’VE HAD LIP BLUSH DONE ELSEWHERE?

Yes, we frequently work with clients to correct or refresh previous lip blush done at another studio. Corrective work is highly specialized and requires an experienced approach, as every case is different.

During your consultation, we assess:

  • The existing pigment color and saturation (how dark, light, or faded it is)
  • Your natural lip tone and undertone to plan for neutralization if needed
  • The current shape and symmetry of your lips

Depending on what we find, correction may involve multiple sessions or even removal or neutralizing treatments before applying your new pigment.

We’ll walk you through the entire plan so you know what to expect and feel confident moving forward.

IS LIP BLUSH SAFE FOR ALL SKIN TONES AND TYPES?

Yes, lip blush is safe and effective for every skin tone and type when performed by an experienced artist. Our process is tailored to your unique lips so results look natural and heal beautifully.

This is how we make sure every treatment is safe and inclusive:

  • Pigment selection: We choose colors that enhance your natural undertone to prevent ashiness or unwanted hues on deeper tones. We also recommend bringing in your favourite lip colour for reference.
  • Technique adjustments: Application is customized for oily, dry, or sensitive skin to improve retention and comfort.
  • Quality products: We use high-quality, premium hypoallergenic pigments and follow strict sterilization protocols to ensure your safety and ours.

Our personalized approach means your results look soft, complimentary and tailored to you, whether your lips are big or small, fair or deep in tone.

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO PREPARE FOR MY LIP BLUSH APPOINTMENT?

Having the right prep instructions sets you up for better pigment retention, smoother healing, and longer-lasting results. To make sure you’re fully prepared, here’s what we recommend:

A few days before your appointment:

  • Stay hydrated — well-moisturized lips absorb pigment more evenly.
  • Gently exfoliate 1–2 days before (lip scrub or soft toothbrush) to remove dry skin.
  • Manage cold sores — if you’re prone, start prescribed antiviral medication to prevent flare-ups.

24 hours before:

  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood thinners (like ibuprofen or aspirin) to reduce bleeding and improve color retention.
  • Refrain from intense sun exposure or tanning 10 days prior to service.

Day of your appointment:

  • Arrive with clean, makeup-free lips.
  • Bring any lip products or inspiration photos you love — we’ll discuss shades together.

Following these steps helps create a smooth canvas for your treatment and sets you up for the best possible results.
